A year ago, Meta announced their implementation of using your posts to train their machines. They followed other platforms that already did it.

And now another policy change is incoming. This coming Oct. 30th.

That policy change also sparked concern over these changes.

Because now, the voices are louder due to business and public pages being affected - whether you are an artist or not.

If you have a page that is public, and you have links for your other sites - link in bio or other shops - they can grab it to train their machines.

They retracted the term "train" that they used, but who are they convincing that they won't totally do it? Do you really believe posting that you "object" will stop them on doing it?

Just this month, Meta was fined due to lies over data privacy issues.

Concerns turned to outrage, making people find an alternative from Meta platforms. Which also explains the spike of new users in other platforms such as Tumblr and Bluesky.

Which also reminds me that we are indeed living on rented spaces with these kinds of landlords. Because what else can you do but obey? The only option is to move out, right? But it's not that easy.

If your demographic is using these popular apps, why would you move? If your business is relying on the traffic of these platforms, it's a risk.

Because what platform does the general public and buying people use?

But no matter where you go, it already happened earlier than announced.

They already did it. They're just doing this for formality and avoid legal disputes in the future.

It's the risk of using a free platform like social media. If it's free, you are the product, your data is the currency.

And it's the harsh truth that we live these times, that these type of situations in these kind of platforms, it's bound to happen.
